These totally cute heart studs are made from silver metal clay. Its like alchemy - you start with some clay, place it in a mould and let it dry. Once it is dry you sand it and refine the shape before firing it either with a cooks torch or a kiln. In my case I use a kiln and once fired you are left with 99.9% fine silver.
 
I then brush the fired heart with a brass brush before soldering sterling siler posts to the back of the earring. After this is pop the studs in my tumbler to polish and harden the silver.
