The clay is pushed into the mould to take on the detail from the real shell. Once the clay is dried and the shell detail refined it is fired to leave 99.9% fine silver. After polishing a patina of liver of sulphur is applied to bring out the fine details.

The mussel shell measures approx 12mm long and is hung from an 18" fine belcher chain.
